“The Very Next Thing” to Come Off My Bucket List: Casting Crowns in Philadelphia + GIVEAWAY!

It’s been over two years since I was baptized into the Christian faith. I was living in this world with a life mirroring the angry rock music that rang through my ears. I began to transition to His world, surrounding myself with beautiful worship music that helped the process of changing myself. When I composed the playlist for the birth of my daughter, I asked for recommendations of songs about Jesus that I knew would give me the strength and encouragement that I needed. A friend suggested the song “East to West” by Casting Crowns and both my husband and I were hooked, it was so moving.

Time went on and as I delved further into His Word, I felt my whole life shifting and with that came worship all the time. I worship while cooking, cleaning, and even while driving but sidenote: remind yourself that you’re driving so don’t close your eyes and raise your arms! Haha! Casting Crowns became my favorite band to worship with, sometimes featured in our worship at church. My Pastor even quoted “O Glorious Day” in the message one day and it made me smile. My minivan only plays CDs so for Christmas the past two years, I got every Casting Crowns CD that exists (thanks Hubby!).

Fast forward to 2016 when I stalked the Casting Crowns Facebook page to see where they would be going to on their The Very Next Thing Tour. It was finally announced that in early 2017, Casting Crowns will make their way to Philadelphia! I’m unbelievably excited to go to my first Casting Crowns show, actually my first ever Christian rock/contemporary concert. I’m not only thrilled to listen to the music in person but to share in worship with so many lovers of Jesus all in one place, publicly proclaiming our love and faith. Wow!

So, The Very Next Thing Tour is named after the most recent Casting Crowns album. If you’ve not yet heard it, I would say that the most of the songs are a bit slower, many that you may hear at church if yours does contemporary Christian worship music. My favorite songs on this album are “One Step Away” and “Song That the Angels Can’t Sing” but I’ve never heard a Casting Crowns song I didn’t like. 😉

Unspoken will also be featured on this tour, known for upbeat and inspiring songs like “Higher” and “Start a Fire”. You may be aware of Danny Gokey because of the television show, American Idol, but I’d first heard his song “Rise” on my Christian Hits radio station and added it to my playlist. His voice is just stunning!

The show in Philadelphia will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 7pm in The Liacouras Center of Temple University. You don’t want to miss this! Not local? Check out the Casting Crowns tour page for details on shows near you!

  1. My favorite song is Everything by Unspoken. The reason I like it is because it perfectly explains my life and the way I live.

  2. I love this group so much. The 2 songs that got me through my 4 year trial are ” Who Am I “and ” I Will Praise You In The Storm” I am a single mom of 3 who lost her job 4 years ago. I grew so dependent on God and my faith is now so strong. Every time I thought I couldn’t make it, God provided. I am greatful for all my trials for now i am better person. I would be blessed to be able to see my favorite group. Have a blessed day!

  3. One of my favorite songs (and I have many from them) is one step away. I’ve been a believer for a really long time. I was raised in church and began a relationship with Jesus in youth group in 6th grade. There have been times I have stumbled in my walk and the song one step away reminds me that all we are is just one step away. When we think we have “fallen” so far away from God he is right there with us waiting for that simple one step and he meets us right there. I’ve wanted to see them for a while . So cool of you to host this giveaway!
