Sleeping Soundly With the HoMedics Sound Machines!

quirky review disc

Somehow, I’ve been blessed with a child who is a light sleeper. My oldest could sleep through a tornado and earthquake making a baby together but the baby, who’s actually about a year and a half now, will wake up at the sound of a pin dropping. She gets used to the sounds that she does hear. When my husband and I would turn the television off at night, she would wake up instantly. Once we began transitioning her into her own toddler bed, my husband suggested that we look into noise machines. Even though we’d made it through four kids without ever having to introduce one of these machines into our lives, it was clear that we were never going to get a wink if we didn’t do something about this light sleeping. Since we absolutely love our Ellia Oil Diffuser from HoMedics, we decided to check them out first.

We perused their vast list of sound machines. They’ve got regular sound machines, portable sound machines, ones coupled with humidifiers, color changing ones, and more. At that point, our eyes caught the SoundSpa Plus Projection Alarm Clock. We weren’t shopping for ourselves but the thing was, we needed a new projection clock. When we’re waking up in the middle of the night, we like to have an idea what time it is and how much sleep we can still get! With the projection clock, you can just lay there and glance up. We keep the clock up on a high dresser anyway so the projection is the only way we can see it when we’re on the bed!

The HoMedics SoundSpa Plus Projection Alarm Clock plays sounds fit for relaxing, studying, and working. You can choose white noise, thunder, ocean, rain, summer night, or a babbling brook. You can set them on a timer to automatically shut off after a certain amount of time. It has a port so that you can charge your devices.

You can adjust the brightness of the display but not the projection, which is a bit bright, but that just makes it easier for me to see at night since I have terrible eyesight and sleep without contacts. I’m a big fan of the ocean sounds at night and all of them are really wonderful when I need to focus on work and drown out other noises in my home.

We couldn’t forget about the sound machine needed for our little girl, now could we?! I thought that the HoMedics MyBaby SoundSpa Lullaby would be perfect for her! We were using a projection night light for her previously, but it was old and the image was becoming dim and fuzzy, so I liked that this SoundSpa included a projection feature. The image projector has three pictures that it can project on the wall or ceiling, with or without the sound machine playing. I was really happy that this could replace her old night light!

The HoMedics MyBaby SoundSpa Lullaby plays three different sounds: heartbeat, gentle rain, and ocean waves. It can also play three lullabies: Twinkle, Twinkle, Rock-a-Bye Baby, and Brahm’s Cradle Song. I think this is fantastic because some babies will prefer music over sounds or vice versa. We swap back and forth with ours for the time being. She seems to enjoy all of it. The optional timer can be set for 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. We tend to leave ours going continuously but the timer is great for nap times or to last the length of your child falling asleep. This sound machine is relatively small, like a little pod, so it would be great for travel. I think it would also make a lovely baby gift for the new mom!

It’s no surprise that we’re pleased with both of our HoMedics sound machines! The sound selection is nice, the timers are helpful, and they do exactly what we need them to!
