Promoting to 30: How Does It Feel?

I can’t believe it’s finally here, the big 3-0! Last year for my birthday, I wrote a list of 29 of my favorite things… such a 20s thing to do, right?! I know that typically for women, this is supposed to be a tough birthday but I honestly don’t relate. I’m incredibly excited to be turning 30 years old! Why? Well, I could bombard you with clichés. like age is just a number, you’re only as old as you feel, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush…wait, that doesn’t make sense. Haha!

The dictionary is pretty specific as to what the word ‘old’ actually means but it doesn’t attribute any particular age, that’s up to us. I feel like I’m only a third of the way through my life, how can that possibly be old? If age is measured in success, I certainly feel accomplished for my age. I said it last year but I’ve found my faith, have an adoring husband, and five beautiful children. It feels like everything is just downhill from here, the rat race is over.

Maybe that’s the wisdom talking. The wisdom of having learned how to be happy. God has been the true key for unlocking my life. Asking myself “Will this glorify God?” before my actions, praying instead of stressing, understanding that through every storm I am getting stronger and He can see the big picture that I can’t see… all of these things have led to the freedom to smile and enjoy life instead of worrying about what’s next. I still struggle with rejection and caring what people think but I’m working on it with prayer and God’s Word. Even that journey feels liberating because I can feel the changes taking place.

The funny saying “I don’t get older, I just get better” actually does fit how I feel. At some point I will share my full testimony, my whole story, but if you only knew how far I’ve come, you would understand. I’m finally living my life well and it’s such an amazing feeling! It’s exciting to wake up every morning, doubly exciting to wake up next to the man I love. Thirty makes me happy because it’s another year of beauty and I’m looking forward to another decade of wisdom, time with my family, and living life to its fullest.

Now that I’ve got all of that mushy stuff out of the way, keep an eye out for a post about how to celebrate your birthday as an adult, to include FREE stuff that you can get!
