All Grown Up: How to Celebrate Your Birthday

When you’re an adult, you’ve go responsibilities and schedules. You likely don’t have time for week-long birthday celebrations and throwing big parties…but you do deserve to be celebrated. As a parent, most things are about the kids. Even what time I eat depends on the kids. There are very few days during the year that are dedicated to reminding you that you matter too. Luckily, there are still some ways for adults to commemorate their birthdays without going all out and this year, I’m taking advantage!

You only turn 30 once and even though Hubby did take me to Mexico as an early birthday gift, I wanted to do something fun with my friends too. We had the idea of going to an escape room with a few friends or even just going out to dinner, but I decided that I wanted to invite a bunch of friends to go paint pottery with me! There is a place local to me that will let you book a private party with at least 10 people at $25 per person. You can bring cake, food, drinks, alcohol, whatever you want to party with your pals.

My best friend made a chocolate fudge cake and my mom surprised me by showing up with a huge whipped cream cake (my favorite!) and balloons! I painted a big cupcake with a “30” on the cherry and had everyone sign the bottom half of the cupcake. We mingled, we painted, we celebrated, and even sang “Happy Birthday” to me. I feel entirely special and blessed to have such amazing loved ones!

How else can an adult celebrate their birthday? With free stuff! Every year, I get a few things to eat and a couple of lovely makeup gifts from retailers so I want to direct you to some places who give you perks for your birthday!
