A Hint of Colour with Younique Makeup + GIVEAWAY! Ends 11/19

*The Quirky Mom Next Door is a Younique presenter and will benefit from any purchases made from the below links. All thoughts and opinions are those of my own and were not influenced in any way.

I am mildly obsessed with makeup. Growing up, I didn’t wear makeup at all. I wore maybe the occasional lip gloss and there was a period where I did that ridiculous thick white eyeliner that was in during the early 00s. My self-esteem was low and I didn’t really do much with my appearance. Do I think that makeup is necessary? Absolutely not. However, I enjoy playing around with it and I certainly feel better when I’m “all dolled up”.

For a while throughout adulthood, I used a lot of drug store makeup. It was fun to toy with but when I started watching YouTube tutorials, I wanted more from my makeup. I wanted those vibrant, glittery shadows and that smooth finish. I went to Ulta and bought myself a pricey palette but immediately, I noticed a difference between the cheap and more expensive shadows and I couldn’t go back.

When I discovered Younique, I was hesitant at first. I’ve never been a fan of direct sales or the people bugging me to join them. I watched from a distance as I noticed the sales that would come up pretty often. At the same time, I watched for coupons from the big makeup stores. One of the makeup stores sent out coupons occasionally but they always excluded the makeup I wanted. Younique had new deals every month. I could get a bundle of something for less or get some things free when I bought others.

After my first party with Younique, I was sold. While my daughter slept across my lap, I swatched every bit of makeup this presenter had to offer. There were so many rich and bright colors, smudge-proof products, and things I just had to have. Before my party was even over with, I realized that I wanted to keep playing with it all.

Once I realized that I could buy a presenter kit for $99 and get like $300 worth of makeup with no monthly fee and no obligations, I signed myself up. My husband made a lot of great points about being able to do something [else] I loved and potentially make money, plus being able to bond with our daughters since they love playing dress-up too. So I’ve been a “Younique presenter”, as they call it, for about nine months and I’m enjoying it. I don’t pester anyone to buy from me and mostly my business is just repeat customers who love the products, which is exactly what I am!

What do I love so much about Younique makeup? Firstly, you’ve probably heard of the mascara from Younique because it was their first big claim to fame. I only tried it at the beginning of this year, which is a reformulated formula. I think the Younique Moodstruck 3D+Fiber Lashes make my eyelashes far more dramatic than any other mascara and it’s similar in price to my former favorite mascara.

I’m particularly in love with the pencil eye and lip liners. They are smudge-proof, waterproof, just kind of life proof. There’s an array of colors and I bought the full set of both because it’s an awesome deal. Peachy is one of my favorite lip liners and Proper is a gorgeous, perfect brown shade that I use often. I’m giving those away today as part of our makeup gift pack!

Now that I’m crazy about makeup, I firmly believe that a girl can never have too much makeup. Some girls have their shoes and some have their purses, but I’m this way with my makeup. I tell you this to tell you that you’ll still see me talk about other makeup. This summer, I tested several lipsticks for longevity and I’m not finished yet. I plan to feature all of the Younique lip products as well! Some are more long-wearing than others but they each have perks of their own. Since Younique uses high quality, natural-based ingredients, I find that every lip product they have is comfortable. There are some popular lip brands out there right now that taste, smell, and feel like straight alcohol burning through your lips and that’s not something I’ve ever experienced with a Younique lippy.

The Moodstruck Minerals Lucrative Lip Gloss isn’t sticky like your average lip gloss and the colors are nice, not too subtle, not over-the-top. There are tons of Opulence Lipstick colors and I always have the hardest time choosing which colors to get. They feel creamy and they last pretty long for regular lipsticks! The Moodstruck Splash Liquid Lipstick is the creamiest, comfiest liquid lipstick I’ve worn and it doesn’t make my lips feel dry at all, which is my favorite part. Younique recently came out with a bunch of metallics, which I’m obsessed with. If you’re looking for a lip stain that absolutely doesn’t come off, I can tell you that I wake up in the morning with Stiff Upper Lip Lip Stain still on my lips and just a little worn. A friend of mine told me that she hasn’t been able to wear lip products in years because they dry out her lips and she is now head over heels for her Lip Bonbons Tinted Lip Balm.

Moving on to eyes, I want to tell you that I’ve personally compared the quality and cost of Younique palettes to other popular ones on the market and I truly feel that they are equal, if not better than most. I’m particularly in love with my Addiction Shadow Palette 5 (pinks and purple) for my nights out and 1 for my everyday nude look when I’m rushing out of the house. Because I want to be completely transparent, I’m going to tell you that I think that Splurge Cream Shadows are a bit pricey compared to other brands on the market but I can’t seem to find anything else that I love as much. They are of a really unique consistency, almost like a marshmallow, and they don’t smudge off.

Younique has truly become one of my favorite makeup brands and it isn’t because I sell it. It’s actually vice versa! I “sell” it because I love it so much. Basically, I signed up to sell this makeup because I planned to buy from myself. I talk about it because I like it and I only message people who want me to message them because they love talking makeup. As it is, this was supposed to be a short post and I rattled off a lot of favorite things! Hopefully, you’ve kept up with me and my passion for painting on my face! Haha!
