Disney On Ice

Memories Frozen in Time with Disney on Ice!

We did it! We wonĀ tickets to the Disney on Ice: Reach for the Stars program in Atlantic City! It’s no surprise that we had an absolutely spectacular time. First of all, we were thrilled to have won enough tickets to bring our entire family because seven is a lot of people! This was the first time that most of my children have been to a Disney on Ice show and the most magical thing about it was watching my kids have a great time.

The snazzily dressed Mickey and Minnie opened the show with some of the classics, Goofy and Donald Duck. Everyone skated out, singing and dancing to get the crowd geared up and ready for the show! Shortly afterward, Sebastian from The Little Mermaid came whizzing out with Ariel’s sister mermaids. I think The Little Mermaid might have been mine and my toddler’s favorite performance because there were glow in the dark characters dancing and my toddler was all over the place dancing along too. Ariel also did some amazing ribbon acrobatics in the air! You expect to see a lot of fantastic ice skating but the air gymnastics really caught us off guard!

Next up was Rapunzel with her long flowing locks! I was particularly impressed by the props they hid in the ceiling with this one, like Flynn Rider’s “Wanted” sign that came down as he was “running” away! My eight year old noticed the lanterns before the show even started and whispered, “I bet those are going to be the floating lanterns for when Rapunzel comes out!” What an observant one she is and she was correct! The room became a dark shade of purple and the lanterns illuminated at the center of the stage. It was quite a sight to see!

My favorite thing about Belle’s performance would absolutely have to be the dancing household objects, like the silverware. Gaston was fun to watch but it was even more entertaining to see her kiss the Beast and watch him turn into the prince in a puff of smoke!

The entire room roared for the famous Anna and Elsa. The icy scenes were magical and every time Sven came out, the children giggled. I know we’re not allowed to like Hans but I’ll tell you what, he was a phenomenal skater! During a song we all love, “Love is an Open Door”, he was able to lift a contorting Anna into the air and spin around. That takes some true skill! Olaf got the biggest applause of all as he glided out and then they played catch with his head, which I’m only just now realizing must have been really hard to accomplish. The heartfelt moment at the end where Elsa hugs Anna was made quite special with light effects that really looked like ice warming up!

The closing number had every couple arriving together, dressed in their best! They waved goodbye and off they went onto their next adventure!

Disney On Ice

The singalongs, astounding skills, and stunning performances by everyone on this cast made the entire show out of this world. Watching my children singing and dancing, even my husband joining in, was such a memorable experience. Everyone was mesmerized and I don’t think they’ll ever forget it! I’m even more excited now to treat them to Disney World next year. šŸ˜‰
