Mémère’s EASY Blueberry Crisp

I originally wrote this post on my old blog in July of 2012. Mémère has since passed away and every time I make this tasty blueberry crisp dish, I think of her. My husband just got oodles of blueberries on sale so I’m preparing to make a whole lot of it! The kids love it and it’s a healthy alternative to so many other desserts. With ice cream, it’s a not-as-healthy but heavenly dessert! What a blessing for Mémère to have left us something that brings us all together and possibly the only thing the kids have ever agreed on. Every person I know who has ever tried this recipe has enjoyed it so I’m pretty confident that you will too.

Earlier in the month we visited my husband’s family in Connecticut and his mémère had prepared quite a delicious snack. I’m not partial to blueberries but I don’t think it really tastes like blueberry. It’s a delightful combination of bitter and sweet and it was so yummy that I had to get the recipe and make some for myself. It’s so easy to whip together, you just have to give this family recipe a try!

Ingredients

3 cups blueberries

2 tbsp lemon juice

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup quick oats

1/3 cup butter, softened

3/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp salt

Directions

Preheat the oven for 375 degrees. Place the blueberries at bottom of a baking pan and pour the lemon juice on top of them. Mix the rest of the ingredients to crumble and sprinkle them atop the blueberries. Bake for 30 minutes.
