You Can’t “Top That!” Fun with Blue Orange Games + GIVEAWAY! Ends 10/13

quirky review disc

Kids love to be entertained, they sometimes want a three-ring circus. Electronics aren’t banned in my home, but I heavily limit them. We sometimes do movies or apps as rewards, but the kids don’t regularly watch television or have their noses in a tablet. They play with their blocks and their dolls but we like to get on the floor and do fun, interactive things with them, so board games are the go-to. I feel like we can never have too many board games, except for the fact that we may run out of room to store them! Blue Orange Games is my favorite company to look to for games because they’re constantly coming up with new and original game ideas and we never fail to love every one of them.

This time, we tried out the new Gigamons and Top That! games! Gigamons is like a memory game that’s been bitten by a radioactive bug or given a special serum. You match and collect Elemons to activate their superpowers. Depending on how many Elemons you collect, you can use a spell to aid you in your mission or summon a mightyGigamon. When you have three Gigamons, you win the game! This game is recommended for ages 6 and up and if you’re playing by the book, I think that’s exactly on par. My older kids both understood and enjoyed playing! They’ve always enjoyed memory games and the twist of magic makes it just that much more fun.

Top That! was quite the blast for everybody. Each player has pieces: a cute little white rabbit, a top hat, a red starry cup, an orange starry cube, and a green coin. Your job is to stack the pieces in a way that is represented by the challenge cards. The challenge cards show which pieces should be used to stack and in grey, you’ll see which pieces need to be hidden. For instance, if you’ve got the top hat and the coin but the rabbit is in grey, you should hide him inside of the hat. When you’re finished, call out “Top That!”

The recommended age for Top That! is actually 6+ but like most of the games from Blue Orange Games, you can kind of tailor it to your kids. My 6 and 8 year olds completely understood the concept of the grey hidden pieces but my smaller ones didn’t so I just announced with each card, “You need this piece, this piece, and that piece but that piece must be hidden.” All of the kids truly got a kick out of it! It was crazy to see my three year old son actually calculating how to stack each piece properly. He actually won a few times, it was a sweet sight! The kids ask me every single day now if they can play Top That!, I legitimately think that this is their favorite game right now and it’s been the best game for them all to do together. We’re pretty happy with our new games and as always, I recommend checking out Blue Orange Games if you’re a game-loving family!

  1. We started playing board games as a family recently now that Riley is 3. Every game teaches her a new skill! These games look so cute and it looks like you guys had a fun time 🙂

  2. My girls would love any one of these games. I like to encourage them to play things that don’t require a screen.

  3. This year, my kids are going to continue with our Christmas list- Something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read, and we will add, something for the family! I know two kids who would love for this to be a present under our family gift section!

  4. My whole family loves playing games together but my niece would especially like one of these games as she is the biggest game fan.

  5. My kids they would be thrilled and would let their imagination go wild having so much fun. Thanks for the wonderful chance very generous 🙂
