A delivery truck dropped off this large box and it contained our new queen-sized mattress, The Essential. I slid the box into my room and stared at it for a while. A large box, sure, but could this box be big enough to contain a mattress capable of transforming my sleep? I had to find out and I’ll admit, I was skeptical. The box glided across the room and unboxed itself, or so this video proves! Haha!

I let it settle into its new home for a while, puffing up to its full size. The Essential is made of cooling memory foam, so it takes about a day to expand to its regular size after being removed from the vacuum sealed bag. The texture of the mattress is soft and smooth, but the mattress itself is of a medium level of firm. It conforms to the body but maintains its shape so that you don’t feel like you’re sinking into it–which was my husband’s chief complaint about our previous mattress. Memory foam has a tendency to let you get lost in it, but not this one, which is surprising when you first experience it!
The first time I laid down on The Essential, I forgot I had a new mattress and yelled, “Woah!” I barely budged and it was weird. After one night, I was still intrigued by the newness of this but not ready to get rid of my other mattress, just in case.
But after night two, it was settled that I really, really loved The Essential and we could safely toss our previous mattress out the window (kidding!) I don’t know what my mattress preference is as far as firmness but this is it. I especially feel relaxed by its cooling Open Cell+ ability. The design leads to more airflow which allows for more breathability. After a long day, it just feels so good to be resting on a cool surface. It cools down all that stress!
The hexagon cover on The Essential is soft, stain resistant, and it zips off so that you can wash it in the washing machine! I’m happy with every facet of it! The Essential mattress is extremely comfortable, affordable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new mattress and a long winter’s nap.
