Oster Blender Review and Smoothie Recipes

Never having been a very good eater and especially having so many food aversions this pregnancy, smoothies started to sound really appealing and I decided that it was time to start making them myself so I could keep up on nutrition and in a more delicious way. I grabbed the blender I already had, which shall remain nameless, and tried to crush the ice. Nothing. I don’t have a fancy refrigerator that crushes ice for me and I don’t have time to crush it myself so I was on the prowl for a blender that could easily blend everything in my smoothies. After several recommendations for an Oster blender, I headed off to Target and bought the Oster 12-Speed Blender in metallic red.

Then I gathered up my friends’ favorite smoothie recipes, here are a few of the ones recommended:

Protein-enriched smoothie
2 cups plain fat-free yogurt
2 ripe medium bananas
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries or frozen unsweetened strawberries
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons peanut butter
Whole fresh strawberries

Blueberry-Pineapple with Spinach for Extra Nutrition
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 banana
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup chopped fresh pineapple
1/4 cup frozen dark sweet cherries
1/4 cup orange juice
Chopped pineapple and/or fresh blueberries (optional)

Pomegranate Raspberry
1-1/2 cups pomegranate juice2 cups frozen unsweetened raspberries
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups low-fat vanilla frozen yogurt

Recommended for Boosting Breastmilk Supply
1/4 cup oatmeal
1Tbls brewers yeast
1Tbls flax seed meal
1C chocolate almond milk
1Tbls peanut butter
1 frozen banana
Add more milk if too thick

Or just throw it together…
banana, red grapes, kale, spinach, water, ice, and a splash of OJ or greek yogurt, strawberries, spinach, banana and a splash of fruit juice if too thick

The Oster had absolutely no trouble mixing everything within seconds. It has many different speeds and it’s extremely easy to use but the best part is how easily it does what I want it to do! Hooray for smoothies and hooray for my new Oster blender which was only $40 for everything I need it to do!

I’m off to make myself a yummy breakfast smoothie! What are your favorite smoothie recipes?
