30 Days of Gratitude: Home

We bought our home a little over a year ago. We always tell people we bought it for the yard, which is huge and currently has a deck, swingset, trampoline, pool, two sheds, a patio, fire pit, and room for more things. Our house, on the other hand, is pretty small for our big family. We have four bedrooms and two bathrooms but everything seems just a bit smaller than ideal. Do we love it anyway? ABSOLUTELY! It feels so good to have a home of our own. Where I can hang things on the walls, paint the rooms, do anything I want without worrying about what the homeowner will think. I just run it by the hubs first. 😉

Having a roof over our heads in general is a reason to feel appreciative, but owning it makes me so happy. I even enjoy imagining the changes we’ll make to the next home because you can do that when it’s yours! Re-doing a bathroom, a kitchen, that sounds so fun to me! My friend, Dianna, is going through this with her new home and assures me that it’s nowhere near as pleasant as I imagine but I can’t wait to find out for myself.

Our home is so filled with love, though and that’s what makes it best. It’s ours, and it’s that cliché “home sweet home” for us all. For that, I am grateful.
