Hooray! It’s time for cold and flu season! Ahem, do you note the sarcasm? I love the holiday season but I hate the illnesses that come with it. With all of these family gatherings, Uncle Joe is bound to pass his germs when he passes the turkey. He didn’t realize he was sick, or he didn’t care, and now your entire household has come down with this nastiness. Blech, try wrapping presents with a runny nose, watery eyes, and kids who can’t sleep because they can’t stop coughing. We did it two years ago, it was not fun!
Luckily, you can battle some of the kids’ discomfort with Children’s Advil®, Children’s Robitussin®, and Children’s Dimetapp®. Children’s Advil® and Infants’ Advil® is intended to reduce a child’s fever fast, relieving aches and pains in the process. Two of my children are getting over ear infections that stemmed from their colds and our doctor prescribed them an antibiotic but also said that she preferred Advil® for the ear pain because in her experience, it lasted longer. (I make no medical claims, that’s just our experience. Ask your doctor what they think!)
Children’s Robitussin® should help to calm the frequent coughing spells your children might suffer from. The daytime formula is non-drowsy and helps to break up chest congestion. The nighttime formula is long-acting for what hopes to be a long and restful night of sleep, relieving coughs and runny noses. The best thing for all of these illnesses is plenty of rest but they can’t very well do that if coughing and snot are keeping them up all night. It’s the saddest thing, watching them struggle to sleep when they don’t feel well. I hate to see my babies feeling ill and uncomfortable, I’m sure you can relate to that.
(My little sickie in good spirits!)
The #1 pharmacist recommended brand for children’s cold and cough symptoms is Children’s Dimetapp®. It combats congestion to relieve stuffy and runny noses and relieves itchy and watery eyes. I feel like runny noses have got to be one of the biggest culprits for spreading germs because I see my kids instinctively wipe their noses on their sleeves or shirts (sorry!) and you know that if I don’t catch that, they probably go to school with that shirt on and have someone touch them while playing at recess, bringing these lovely germs home with them!
You can take vitamins and practice perfect handwashing, but I think that someone in the house is often bound to get a cold at least once during the season. It makes sense to know what’s out there to cut the symptoms to a minimum and make things as comfortable as possible for the little ones.
