With five kids, going anywhere can get pretty pricey and going to the movie theater can be one of the most expensive things we do. On top of that, you aren’t sure if your children will sit still or handle the loud sounds well (especially those with sensory issues). Pay an arm and a leg to find out or wait until the Regal Summer Movie Express comes to town! Tickets are only $1 per person and your child gets that fun movie theater experience but you’re also not breaking the bank if you have to leave for whatever reason.
Last year, I took all of my kids to see How to Train Your Dragon 2 at our local Regal movie theater. A friend of mine brought her two year old son and it was the first time three of our kids had been to the movies at all! It cost $7 total for the whole gang and we were both surprised that our kids did really well! They sat and quietly watched the movie until the last quarter where they got a little antsy and started trying to switch seats. In a regular movie, other moviegoers aren’t going to stand for that and I’d have removed my children anyway (I’m not one to ruin someone else’s experience!) During the Regal Summer Movie Express, this is all expected! There will be a random shout of a child or a mom telling someone to sit still and it’s accepted.
The movies played are ones that have released relatively recently, within the last couple of years. Each movie is rated G or PG at most. Last year they only did one movie a day so if you were only available one day but you wanted to see the other movie, you were out of luck. This year they’ve remedied that by playing BOTH movies BOTH days! Yay! I think that the Regal Summer Movie Express is the ideal place to take your children for their first movie. It’s inexpensive, it’s an atmosphere specifically for them, and the experience is memorable!
Each Regal begins the series at a date that works for them and the dates are not all the same so you should check the schedule for your local theater. All of the theaters will follow the series weekly schedule, which is as follows:
