Education Gets Roaring with Field Station: Dinosaurs and Super Stars of Science Series

My little man is turning three in a couple of days and since we only do birthday parties on the “milestone years”, we wanted to do something special for him. My husband said he found just the place, Field Station: Dinosaurs! We are a dinosaur-loving household and when I say we, I mean that I have been watching my favorite dinosaur movies on repeat. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when he made this suggestion because I didn’t even know that Field Station: Dinosaurs had re-opened after a location change! This attraction is now located at 40 Fort Road, Leonia, New Jersey. We are very excited to bring the little man next weekend, on a Saturday during their Super Stars of Science program!

Field Station: Dinosaurs is an educational and incredible park with over 30 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, activities, live shows, special guest experts, and also a 3D dinosaur movie, located in New Jersey. All of the dinosaurs your kids know and love come to life as they get the opportunity to learn all about them! I showed my kids the video below to give them a sneak peek of exactly what to expect next weekend and they were astounded!

Super Stars of Science is the fun and educational series held on Saturdays at Field Station: Dinosaurs. Each Saturday features a different special guest speaker from different fields of science! The programs are free, they’re included with your regular admission.

August 13:             Join Joe DangeliNew Jersey’s “Bat-Man” with The Wildlife Conservation and Education Center, to learn about bats and other mammals with exciting displays and presentations!

We’ll be going during the Bat-Man’s visit and we’re looking forward to seeing the live bats! I honestly think that bats are quite adorable and I’m hoping I can take one home (okay, maybe not that adorable!).

August 20:             Jason Poole, Paleo Art/Paleontologist and co-author of the coloring book A Dynasty of Dinosaurs, gives step-by-step instructions on how to draw dinosaurs! Also learn about what it means to be a dig site sketcher.

My children are such artistic little guys and dinosaurs can be so tricky to draw, this sounds like an informative and artistic activity to join!

August 27:            Jason Schein, Paleontologist, co-founder of The Bighorn Basin Dinosaur Project and co-author of the coloring book A Dynasty of Dinosaurs, will share discoveries from his recent paleo-dig in a family-friendly presentation entitled “Dispatches from a Dinosaur Dig”. *Season pass holders have the opportunity an exclusive  presentation called “Bones Everywhere!” at 7pm, showcasing his most recent finds in Wyoming and Montana.

What more could you want than to hear from a person who finds what’s left of the REAL dinosaurs himself?! Oh, so many cool experiences and what an awesome career. Not only would the kids have a million questions, but so do I!

The birthday boy is asking me every day when are we going to see the big, huge dinosaurs, hands motioning up over his head as he says it. The entire family can’t wait! This screams must-see attraction in New Jersey and they close on September 5th, so hurry and get there this season! I’ll be back next week with a follow-up on how our visit went but spoiler alert: there’s no way we will not love it!

Field Station: Dinosaurs is open rain or shine from 10-6pm Tuesdays through Sundays, and on their last day of the season, Labor Day, Monday, September 5th. Children under two are free, regular admission is $15 for guests two and up. There are other passes with additional perks so check out their website for details.

  1. This looks like so much fun! We had something like this nearby when I was growing up. Walking around the huge animated dinosaurs war such a thrill! I’ll have to remember this when little man is a little older!

  2. This looks like such a fun place. Thanks for posting all the info. I’m going to be moving close to that area and this will be one of my first stops with the kids 🙂
