As time goes by, our minds get worse. It gets harder and harder to remember things from our childhood. Our memories fade, and it’s depressing. Our memories are nothing more than a snapshot in time of a given moment in our lives. We wish we could remember everything! But sadly, as memorable as our first day of school may have been, there’s a good chance it’s gone. The same could be said of any special moment we may have had. That’s what makes pictures so important! They capture that moment on paper! No longer do we have to rely on our own natural programming!
Now I remember as a child, my parents had boxes and boxes full of pictures. They were in albums. They were on the fridge. They littered the walls of every nook and cranny of our home. As we have gotten more technologically advanced, we have stopped developing them on photo paper and we now rely on digital prints. For every picture we take, we now have them on thumb drives, or up in the internet ‘cloud.’ We don’t have them in hand, and if we aren’t careful, we may lose them. We may forget the passwords that keep the account active, or we may lose the computer’s hard drive to a cup of a spilled water.
That’s what makes a company like CanvasPop so important. CanvasPop brings us crisp images on beautiful canvases, complete with the hardware to make mounting them simple. They have become my absolute favorite thing to use for decorating. They add such a personal touch to any space, really making it feel like “home.”
The picture that we chose for our canvas was quite a lovely one from our family shoot during the Christmas season. You have no idea how tough it is to get a decent photo of seven people, bonus if you can get everyone looking at the camera, and it’s a miracle if everyone is smiling. I was so enamored with this picture and the CanvasPop canvas print made the most perfect addition to my living room. Photos in frames are lovely but on canvas I feel like they’re just so much more elegant! Think about it… Would you prefer to have a magazine style copy of the Mona Lisa, or the original itself?
My preferred style of canvas from CanvasPop is the deep frame. I like how the image wraps around the edges rather than having the framed edge. Don’t get me wrong, they offer framing, but I like how it looks and I think that it makes the picture more versatile. I’ve already moved canvases from one room to another, regardless of whether the color scheme goes from brown to black. So I’ve found it helpful not having to worry about matching the color of the wood. As for the canvas itself, it feels thick and sturdy in case you were to, say, accidentally lean your treadmill on it (I may or may not have done this…).
There’s just one more aspect of CanvasPop that I feel needs to be mentioned. They do a lot of the work by hand. The laminating, the stretching, and several other things I’m sure, are done by a real human being, and not some machine. Their personal touch shows in so many ways, and you can tell from the very moment you open up the box. It comes out of the package ready for hanging, and they even provide the nail!
