We’ve been LEGO fans as long as I can remember because the toys are awesome for both boys and girls, they’re great to build and leave a ton of room for creativity. LEGOs were my favorite as a kid and they’re still my favorite now! My kids have been no different, we’ve got all different kinds of LEGO sets! What we only recently got into are the LEGO movies. After the big mainstream LEGO movie, we started checking out the short ones via our streaming services and we all learned how funny and well-done these movies are and of course, it’s neat that the kids have the tools to re-create these videos they’re watching!
So when we had the opportunity to check out the LEGO NINJAGO movie, I was excited for my little guys. My son in particular is absolutely thrilled with his new LEGO movie. He tells me that it’s really funny and it’s his new favorite movie. When I asked all of the kids what their favorite parts were, everyone cited a different hilarious part in the movie so it’s unanimous that this is a a comical film for kids!
Now, if you’re like me, you may not be previously clued in on what NINJAGO is! Let me explain what I learned in my pre-movie research. NINJAGO is actually LEGO’s original creation, a story about young people learning ninja skills to save the world. It reaches a variety of ages of kids because it’s adventurous and interesting but it also tackles real world issues in the kids’ lives.
The NINJAGO movie is about a battle for NINJAGO City led by high school student, Lloyd (voiced by Dave Franco), whose alter ego is Green Ninja! The cast also includes Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Zach Woods and the legendary Jackie Chan! Lloyd/Green Ninja is joined by his secret warrior friends and they are taught by the wise and funny Master Wu, who adults will know as Jackie Chan! The team bands together to go up against the villain, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. What ensues is a fun and especially wild adventure worth watching, according to my kids!
