The first day of school is so emotional! It’s quite bittersweet, sending your child onto their next milestone but knowing that each year marks one year of childhood down and less left to spend together. Two of our girls started school this September, one into second grade and one beginning kindergarten in her first ever year of schooling outside of the home. The kids were absolutely thrilled to start school and I wanted to mark this occasion, to save the mementos in the most adorable way possible. Last year, my friend shared a picture of her daughter holding the sweetest face-framing sign for back-to-school. I was so in love with it! It turns out, that sign and many other fabulous products were made by Doodledaisy Designs!

Doodledaisy Designs is small mom-owned and operated business. With a passion for art and a BFA in graphic design, Christy wanted to create the business of her dreams and she did just that! The name was derived from her son’s nickname, Doodlebug, and her basset hound named Daisy. Five years later, Doodledaisy Designs is a solid and successful business that allows Christy to spend much of her time with her family. She also attends yearly craft booths and plans paint parties for both adults and children.

All of the wooden shapes used in Doodledaisy Designs are hand drawn by Christy, from templates that she creates herself, and cut out by her loving husband. The wood used is birch wood and plywood. Each piece is primed, sanded, and sealed with a clear coat protectant after painting. With every piece being hand-painted by Christy, each piece is unique and no two pieces are exactly alike! To complete each piece, a wire for hanging and a matching bow are added.

Our Doodledaisy Designs school frame is so cute! The school accessories painted on it are sweet and it’s very vibrant. My favorite part of the frame is the chalkboard section, which allows us to change up the use of the frame. We can put “First Day” or “Last Day” and we can use it with each child and/or each year. This year, our Doodledaisy Designs frame showcased our oldest daughter’s first day of second grade and our second daughter’s first of kindergarten!!

I take so many pictures that I think having such a pretty way to mark each year is not only going to be helpful but it will look gorgeous in the picture books! We’ve already received a lot of compliments on this year’s pictures and everyone wants to know where we got the awesome frame!

Obviously, I’m excited about the school frame because that’s the most recent special event, but I browsed through all of the Doodledaisy Designs albums and found so many stunning creations. She’s got baby announcements that I love, customizable holiday decorations, even sports signs if you want to rep your favorite football team this season!
