Summer may fly by for us but it really is a long time for the kids. They have a ball riding bikes with their friends and going swimming, but it really is a long time to be apart from their education. I like to try to encourage my older kids to read and every year, I try to pick up workbooks to do with the younger ones. Then, we use them for our homeschooling preschool sessions during the school year. With hundreds of different books purchased at this point, I can say with complete honesty that the Gakken Play Smart Workbooks are the best fit we’ve found for our toddlers and preschoolers.
Play Smart Picture Puzzlers are workbooks packed with all sorts of activities, more than 110 colorful stickers, and a wipe-off game board. You’ll see matching games, mazes, spot-the-difference, plus drawing, counting, and more! They’re separated by ages: 2, 3, and 4. I really appreciate the age two books especially because I feel like we haven’t found many workbooks that are geared toward this age or at least didn’t work well with this age group. The activities in these books are vibrant and simple enough for my two year old to understand but enough to challenge her a bit. Color the rest of this shape, put a sticker on the right answer, they start out with such easy to follow directions. If you’ve ever met a toddler, you know that they’re still learning how to follow directions so they need to be very basic and clear. These are PERFECT for my toddler!
The Picture Puzzlers include stickers not only for some of the activities within the book but also as rewards. I find that reward stickers are fantastic for encouraging my little ones to keep doing their best. There are ice cream cones, baseballs, lions, all kinds of cute stickers to keep the incentives going! And it absolutely works!
The Play Smart Wipe-Off Workbooks are packed with colorful, fun activities for the kids! I love that we can wipe off the lesson after we’ve finished because I’ve found that repetition is great for these little ones so I’ll do the same lessons again in the future. Each book comes with a wipe off marker that has an eraser on top and opens with a lesson idea in the front. They start off simply enough for my two and a half year old to understand, like learning to draw a line and counting. Then they advance as far as studying the numbers, how to write them, and where they fit. I find that the variety in the workbooks really helps to reach the different levels of learning in the kids. I’ve been using the Play Smart Wipe-Off Workbooks with my two, four, and six year olds and they’re all really enjoying it. My six year old is a big fan of the puzzle books!
Overall, we are extremely thrilled about the composition of these Play Smart Workbooks, the Picture Puzzlers and the Wipe-Off. The content was clearly put together by someone who has or has worked with young children. Not only has it been a great way to keep the little ones’ minds rolling through summer, it’s going to be perfect for homeschooling preschool. I’ve been looking for something like this especially for toddlers for years. This school year, I will be home with only my two year old and she’s very intelligent. I want to be able to work with her before she starts school. These books are exactly what I’ve been seeking out for her! I can honestly say that the Gakken Play Smart Workbooks will be the primary makeup of the next three years of my daughter’s homeschool preschooling and I’m really excited about it!
You can purchase Gakken Play Smart Picture Puzzlers Workbooks for $6.99 each.
