One of my absolute favorite things to do in the summer, number six on this year’s summer bucket list, is roasting marshmallows! Nothing beats just sitting by the fire laughing and listening to music. Last weekend, we actually played board games by the light of the fire and put a new spin on the classic s’mores! We tried a bunch of different kinds of s’more recipes to share with you and I’m excited to share! Roast your marshmallows and THEN…
1. Add sliced strawberries to your classic s’more! My favorite was white chocolate with strawberries, it was so decadent!
2. Small bits of bacon and sticks of salted caramel.
3. Mint chocolate cookie or peppermint patty in place of the typical chocolate.
4. A twist on the usual style of a s’more, take a banana and fill it with mini marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crust, then roast over your open fire!
5. Use jam and a dark or white chocolate bar.
6. Try lemon curd with coconut flakes!
7. Use mini pretzels with a caramel chocolate bar.
8. Get really fancy with coconut cookies, white chocolate, and thin pineapple slices!
9. Slice up bananas and for another easy change, use nutella instead of chocolate!
10. To re-create my blueberry crisp, use blueberries, a lemon cookie, AND graham crackers.
11. Make your s’more as usual but put a dab of cookie dough inside!
12. If you want peanut butter, use a peanut butter cup! Peanut butter from a jar can be very messy!
13. Have a peanut butter and jelly s’more with peanut butter cookies and jam!
14. Slice up apples and use a caramel bar as your chocolate center! Bonus if you can heat up the apples over the fire!
15. Everyone’s favorite was the Oreo s’more! Take Oreo cookies and a cookies ‘n cream bar (or the new Oreo bar we found, that is crazy delicious!) and make a S’moreo! It’s been suggested that it might be easier to eat if you split the cookies in half first!
16. Skip the marshmallow and cook meat and cheese on a cracker over the fire!
17. Have an hors d’oeuvres s’more with sliced tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil stuffed into a sandwich of wheat crackers! No marshmallow on this one either, save that for dessert!
There are so many cool ways to change up the average s’more! Use cookies other than graham crackers: Shortbread, mint, sugar, chocolate, peanut butter, or Oreo! Chocolate is fun to toy with although some don’t melt as easily or are much messier: Mint, dark, white, caramel, peanut butter, cookies n cream, Kit Kat, or sliced Snickers. You can add pretty much any delicious fruit sliced thinly so it fits on the s’more.
I also want to suggest what we used to do when I was in Girl Scouts, it was called a “dough boy”. I’ve seen this done a bunch of different ways but our way was easy! You take crescent rolls and wrap them around your stick, roast them over the fire, dip them in butter, and then cinnamon and sugar! Roasting dessert over a fire is the BEST!
Some great s’mor substitutes here. I really like the one with strawberries and white chocolate.

I like smores when camping because it’s fun, but marsh-mellows taste weird to me like empty sweet nothings. The bacon suggestion was very creative!

S’mores are great on their own. And you just made them infinitely better!! I LOVE the idea of using candy. With a Reese’s it would be so delicious. Maybe I’d use a mini one so that I could have a BUNCH and not feel as guilty. Lol!
