Good Night, Little Blue Truck + GIVEAWAY! Ends 11/10

*HMH Books for Young Readers sent me a copy of Good Night, Little Blue Truck and is partnering with me for a giveaway!

Studies show that reading to your children at night fosters the parent and child bond, helps prepare children for sleep, and even boosts your child’s brain development. I love finding my kids new books to read at night and it’s such a treat for us all to sit together and read. My littlest ones had quite the fun little pajama party reading Good Night, Little Blue Truck.

Good Night, Little Blue Truck is the newest book in the bestselling series about the adorable Little Blue Truck and all of his friends! I’ve got to start by saying that my favorite thing about this book is that it reads like a poem. I love reading rhyming stories to the kids because it’s fun the way that it flows and it keeps their attention and mine.

Now this particular story is about how Little Blue Truck, Toad, and all of his friends want to go to sleep but the storm is too loud and it’s keeping everyone up. They all decide to be brave and huddle together to coast through the storm and then they head home once it’s finally over. I think the story does a great job of encouraging bravery and reassurance, especially before bedtime. Good Night, Little Blue Truck is also the perfect length for the younger ones before heading off to sleep. It made everyone smile but also helped them wind down.

After some tasty late night cookies and a family movie, we all snuggled together in our pajamas reading Good Night, Little Blue Truck but we decided to take turns reading it. For my toddler and my son who is a very new reader, I mostly read the story. My seven year old liked the wheel and read the book to all of us. We had fun with the Little Blue Truck stickers and door hangers, and we’re also going to do some of the fun activities in the activity booklet, which you can download HERE!

We also have Little Blue Truck Leads The Way and I have to say that I love this series and any series that will make my kids smile. The illustrations are adorable and the stories are cute. We love Little Blue Truck and his pals!

  1. Whenever I babysit for my niece and nephew on a school night I always start an hour before bedtime to get them ready. Otherwise they will drag it on and won’t be in bed until an hour afterwards. Then I hear it from my sister.

    1. I have a 2 year old son and a 3 year old son and they both love nightly story times and then songs before bed. 📚 🎶

  2. Our bedtime routine always starts with a relaxing bath or shower. One last Snack. Then, we settle in bed and read a book. Lastly we sing Twinkle Little Star together.

  3. When taking care of Grandsons we set up the sleeping bags and blankets and read some, talk and giggle some. Puppy also gets involved.

  4. The routine isn’t really routine, because no night is the same. Half the time they are ready to go to bed, but when they aren’t, we do read to them or sit with them. Most of the time though, ready or not, they just go to bed.

  5. We dont have a specific routine because it depends on the other kids schedules but usually we brush teeth, then get pajamas on and then I read a book before bed.

  6. I usually bathe my daughter first get her in her pjs and lay her down to watch a movie with her milk so i could washup my son in the meantime then they both either get hungry so ill srve my daughter some cereal or shell eat some fruit. my son usually goes to bed first with his bottle and i lay down with my daughter and shell go to bed within the next 30 min she enjoys watchin frozen or chucky

  7. I read a book to the kids, and use animated voices, tuck them in like a bug all snug and say a prayer with them.

  8. Our bedtime routine is super simple! Have a quick snack, bath time, brush teeth, have a drink of water, story time, lights out!!

Thank you so much for the chance 🙂

  9. I used to love the routine when my grandson would visit, because it almost always included the book (one or more times) Hop on Pop — he got to the point, like the little ones often do that he had it memorized! He loved me to read to him!

  10. Brush the teeth, pjs, prayers and reading. Lots of snuggles and hugs/kisses and quiet time to discuss the best part of the day!

  11. Our bedtime routine is bath, an hour of tv or tablets, brush teeth, and read a couple books. Then hopefully, sleep.

  12. We read a section of a kids Bible with our daughter, then sometimes an extra book, and then the going to bed book.

  17. Our bedtime routine is laying out clothes for the next day when they are getting their pajamas out. Then they take a bath, brush teeth and get dressed. They pick out a stuffed animal to sleep with and a book that they want to read that night. Then it’s snuggle time, Our 3 yr old goes to bed 1st and then our 11-year-old goes to bed. They each have the same schedule just different times. They love the book reading the best and the snuggle time.

  23. I don’t have a bedtime routine. I’m more of a napper. After having worked third shift for many years I have a hard time sleeping for more than three or four hours at a time.

  24. The family gathers for family prayer. The little ones stick around for a bedtime story and then they individually go off to use the toilet and brush their teeth. One child at a time says their personal bedtime prayer. When all is done, they head up to get tucked in.

  29. When my nephew is here I will read a book or we will watch a half hour show while he lays down. I usually give him a back rub and he falls easily half the time.

  30. When the boys were little we would read to them. Now that they are older, they do not think it is as ‘cool’. Guess it would be awkward reading to a 17 and 19 year old before they went to bed. Thank you
