Introducing Dandy the Dane + BULLYMAKE Subscription Box!

disclosure product

For almost my entire life, I desperately wanted a Great Dane. I knew that they were higher maintenance than your average pup but they’re just such gorgeous gentle giants and I was obsessed. When we ended up with thrice the house in Tennessee, my husband finally spoke those magical words: “You might as well get your horse dog!” I’d researched so many things before but now it was time to look into the fun stuff, like what kinds of toys to get my baby! Bullymake was recommended by many other Great Dane owners so we had to give them a try!

My beautiful little harlequin Dane, Dandy, was named after a giant five-scoop ice cream sundae that I’ve loved my whole life. The name was so fitting that he was actually named long before he even existed. He’s less than three months old but he could probably gnaw through a steel pipe with his little razor teeth if he wanted to. Bullymake is a monthly subscription box for “power chewers”, meaning they make and ship durable chew toys that will last! Their toys are made in the USA and are put through rigorous testing to ensure the safety of your pup. If Dandy were to get a hold of a cheap quality toy and tear it to shreds, he could choke or it could mess up his insides. I didn’t want to risk that by just grabbing a toy from the shelf in the pet store!

So what does Dandy boy think of the toys in his Bullymake box? He LOVES them! His box came with a hard pretzel that is rock solid, there is no way he’s ever chewing through that. It’s easy to clean so it tends to be my go-to toy for him! I often use it to redirect him if he wants to nibble on a person. We’re still very much in the learning stage with everything. I will say that he does quite well with potty training, much better than my other pups had. Smarty pants, for sure!

He also got a Bullymake barrel which he and my Cocker Spaniel sometimes “fight” over. I can almost hear them going, “I’ve got it!” “No! I’ve got it!” It’s bright so it captures my dogs’ attention and the barrel is sturdy which makes it easy to carry around and play fetch with. Sometimes they just roll it back and forth. Anything for entertainment! I would say with certainty that Bullymake toys are the best quality I’ve ever had so far and they are 100% perfect for a Great Dane and any other determined chewer.

While you can choose a “toys only” box which would come with four toys a month, the regular Bullymake box actually comes with treats too! They also design and manufacture the treats too, which are all natural and healthy. Bullymake can work around allergies, which you include when choosing your box. I obviously can’t vouch for the taste of the treats but I can say that they smell pretty great for a dog treat (my son asked for one, so…) and all three dogs, who are sometimes very picky, truly enjoy them. I bring them with me on hikes, use them to encourage positive training, and of course, just to reward my pups for being awesome.

Introducing Dandy to our family has been wonderful but I was nervous at first. Raising a Great Dane is a tall task and my mind raced with all of the mistakes I could make but I really feel like I’m starting off right with the perfect sturdy toys and healthy treats for him. You will most assuredly see Dandy with more Bullymake toys and I will be recommending them left and right!

  1. I have to check it out. I love your dog, he is a beauty! Our Doxy is 15 years old, and he has started chewing through his bones in 5 minutes. I guess it’s because we changed his diet and he seems like a puppy again. Thanks for the information.

  2. It’s an interesting concept. I had a friend whose 5 year old required 300 stitches in his face after her Great Dane got in a fight with him over a plate of spaghetti. Anything to prevent something like that from happening.
