My old refrigerator was covered with drawings that the kids made. Stacks of paper fill bins in our closets, all adorned with creations made by the kids. What if we could memorialize their art in a way that differs from the usual crayon-to-paper method? Budsies came up with a way that we find astonishing!

 

Budsies creates customized stuffed animals all from a drawing. The personalization by this company is incredible. All you have to do is draw any kind of picture and upload it, then their designers go to work. They select the materials that will suit your little stuffie and then they work some real magic to bring that creation to life. We can’t get over how unbelievably cool this is!

For our family polyanna this year, our eight year old got our toddler so I told her all about Budsies and she was all over it! She drew her super girl immediately and she seemed to know exactly what she wanted her to look like. She described her to me, telling me that “her cape is actually shaped like a heart and you can see it in the back.” When you upload your drawing into the Budsies website, it asks for a written description as well, which is the perfect place to describe a detail like that which a person might not be able to tell just by looking at the picture. In my opinion, that made her drawing that much more unique but I also thought “wow, I bet that’s going to be way more complicated.”

Despite how complicated my daughter’s very specific drawing seemed to us, the designer clearly had no problem recreating exactly that. When the box arrived at our front doorstep, my husband, daughter, and I were shocked to see how spot on this stuffed drawing turned out to be. It was as if it jumped right out of her imagination. She loved it so much, she almost asked if she could keep it but then she said actually she’d love to make another one for herself because she’s so excited to give this one to her sister.

I love Budsies for so many reasons. The concept blows me away but also the obvious amount of time and effort that goes into these handmade stuffed toys is out of this world. We received little updates and even a closing video from the designer at the end. It’s such a personalized experience from start to finish and it’s so fun to follow along with your creation’s journey.

I can see a lot of great purposes for Budsies, not only just kids drawing something for themselves that you will cherish forever. These would be such great keepsakes for kids, especially those who have to be apart for extended periods, like those in the military.  I think it would make them feel safe at night to have something like that close. It can be done for fun but for me, I can’t help but see all of the sentimental value in it.
