Happy World Smile Day!

The feature I’m most often complimented on is my smile. I’m glad because it cost my parents thousands of dollars and 5 1/2 years of braces! I happen to like it too and really, I’m usually found and smiling and laughing! The way I see it, there’s always SOMETHING you can smile about.

So here’s a list of ten things that make me smile…

  1. When one of my kids crawls into my lap and nuzzles against me…even bigger bonus if they fall asleep on me
  2. Nature in general. I love to watch the waves crash on the ocean, the breeze flow through the trees. A chipmunk ran across my bare foot a few months ago and I was cracking up, it was the cutest (most awkward feeling!) thing ever!
  3. Realizing it’s a day of the week when one of “my shows” is on. I look forward to sitting on the edge of my seat for Supernatural, Grimm, Game of Thrones, Scandal, The Walking Dead, and several others depending on which season it is!
  4. Compliments, especially ones from strangers. My absolute favorite thing to hear is “Wow, four kids! You don’t look like you have four kids!”
  5. Doing random acts of kindness for people. I love knowing that I just helped someone’s day, even if just a bit.
  6. Watching my children… watching them at their dance recitals, playing in their soccer games, tucking their dollies in for bed, learn new things, and hit new milestones. My children can make me smile no matter what’s going on in the world, in my life, during my day.
  7. Seeing people strive for greatness, improve, and succeed. To see people working hard to achieve their goals warms my heart.
  8. When my husband goes out of his way to do something sweet for me. He will come home with some of my favorite foods or recent cravings, he’ll clean the house the way I like it when I’m not home, etc.
  9. Little babies. What?! I don’t want another one but they do make me smile with their tiny little hands and tiny little feet and tiny little faces.
  10. Imagining the future. My kids getting older and going on family vacations together, being able to get away without them, the days when they’re more skilled at cleaning up after themselves…
