I am constantly trying to find natural answers to everything. I have a headache, I need a tincture. I’m feeling down, I want an essential oil for that. Not only am I looking for the right remedies but I want a company whose products I can consistently rely on. Mayernik Kitchen makes useful products using natural and organic ingredients. I was thrilled to see that they offer a subscription box, the Apothecary Box. The Apothecary Box is the perfect opportunity to try several different Mayernik Kitchen items at once. The Apothecary Box ships out the first week of every month and includes five different surprise homemade holistic products directly from the Mayernik Kitchen!
I received the Mayernik Kitchen April Out of Woods Apothecary Box, spring-themed Apothecary Box but I find that it is still quite applicable as we approach summer, with all of the grilling, fire pits, and general outdoorsy season! My favorite part of the box was the Bug-Off Spray. I am not at all a fan of the sprays you buy in stores. They’re packed with chemicals and they smell dreadful. While I do get bitten like crazy, I still can’t stomach the smell enough to put on the chemical stuff so I am always trying to find a natural spray that actually works.
The Mayernik Kitchen Bug-Off Spray contains witch hazel, organic citronella, cedar wood, and eucalyptus essential oils. Does it work? I have only used it a handful of times but so far it does the trick! We have these biting midges in my area. They’re basically gnats that chew through your skin, it’s pretty unpleasant. Apparently they don’t like the Bug-Off Spray so that means that I do! Safe to use on the kiddies, which is what I’ve also been doing.
Barefoot, for me, is basically the only way to go in the summer. The feeling of the cool grass or warm sand under my toes, it’s just part of the experience! Between that and being on your feet nearly all day, it’s nice to have a bit of a spa experience for your feet at the end of the day. The Mayernik Kitchen Lavender Green Tea Foot Bath is made with lavender flowers, Epsom salt, green tea, and organic lavender essential oil. Lavender is great for calming, the aromatherapy from this foot bath is just so soothing.
Also great after beating up your feet all summer, the Mayernik Kitchen Summertime Heel Butter. This shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, essential oil concoction is intended to help keep your heels nice and smooth. The butter itself is so smooth, I really love how it feels on my skin and it smells lovely!
If you’re a mom, you probably need the Coffee Eye Serum from Mayernik Kitchen. Coffee grounds are soaked in avocado and almond oil and applied to your eyes 2-3 times a week, should help keep bags from forming under your eyes! It is a fair trade, organic serum, so no worries about chemicals soaking into your body after application. Safe and effective, as this is a method I’ve heard about for a long time!
Sadly, the Apothecary Box goody that I like most, I can’t try yet. With any essential oils, you should research what is okay for to you to use if you are pregnant or nursing. Although diluted mixtures like this are apparently safer, I didn’t want to risk using it because I’ve read that since I’m breastfeeding, I shouldn’t use rosemary oil. Once my baby is weaned, I am going to be all over the Mayernik Kitchen ReAwaken Massage Hair Oil. Even though it didn’t happen with my previous pregnancies, for some reason my temples have lost patches of hair with my most recent baby. The ReAwaken Massage Hair Oil uses jojoba, rosemary, and peppermint oils to help with dry skin and hair growth. Looking at the ingredients, I have a hunch that it massaging it onto your scalp could possibly help with headaches also…something to try!
Just a quick aside, I’d love to mention how sweet the label is that was on the outside of my Mayernik Kitchen Apothecary Box. Made with love! You can tell that this is a business that cares about what they make and the people they’re making it for!
Overall, I loved the Apothecary Box from Mayernik Kitchen. I love the natural ingredients used, the helpful concoctions, and the way that they considered what would be most useful for the season when composing the box. I’ve already recommended their Bug-Off Spray to friends but I do recommend the Apothecary Box itself, if you’re interested in a collection of natural supplies!
