Have your kids been productive this summer? I feel like that’s not often the case in the summer but especially not in summer 2020, huh? This week, we’re going to focus a little more on goals and productivity! Our featured film is Alex & Me, about a teenage girl who dreams of playing soccer like her hero. After she hits her head, the poster of her hero comes to life and helps her to achieve her goals! I knew that my older girls were going to love this movie and I was right! It’s available now to own on Digital, Blu-ray™ & DVD.
Now let’s talk about goals! Alex & Me focuses on more physical goals, as does this attached free family fitness workout. It’s important to make sure that kids are staying fit throughout summer and not just glued to electronics. We often like to do that through things like hiking and kayaking. It gets us out to see nature but also keeps us on our toes!
Whether you have short-term goals or long-term goals, physical ones or otherwise, this goal chart can help your children to start working toward them! I think this is a great time to sit down with your kids and talk about things they hope to be able to do. Start a conversation! Is there a subject in school that they want to work on? A sport they hope to improve in? What do they want to do when they grow up? I think even a summer bucket list fits within the range of short-term goals.
Some of my children’s goals included:
- Make the basketball team
- Get a bunny
- Get better grades in school
They can work toward making the basketball team by practicing their skills, improve their grades by studying each day, and doing chores regularly would help to prove responsibility in order to get a bunny. It’s important to encourage the step-by-step work it takes to create progress and success. You go get ’em!
