Music is a huge part of my life. Music to relax music to get pumped, music to act as white noise while the baby naps. I’d love to have a speaker in every room of my home but there are only so many outlets that can be used. Sengled figured out a way around this and now they have got one of the coolest products that I have ever seen…a Bluetooth light bulb!
You’ve probably got a light bulb in every room of your house. Your basic light bulb that turns on and illuminates a room. In 1879, that was cool, but now it’s just a light bulb. The Sengled Solo utilizes that electricity to also power a speaker in the light bulb! It’s quite simple to activate. If you were asked, “How many people does it take to screw in a Sengled Solo light bulb?” “Just one.” Sorry, I had to. Install the light bulb like any other and then there are two ways to activate the music. You can use the Bluetooth like I’ve done in this video:
Boom, music plays! That is the most excellent gadget ever, right? Okay, well it gets even cooler. If you download the Pulse app on your device, you can turn the music on and also dim the light. To answer a question that I was wondering myself, it does not have to (and actually, should not) be a dimmable lamp. So it’s a bonus, you’re making a regular lamp dimmable! Currently, ours is in the dining room ceiling fan but we’re going to be buying a lamp for our bedroom. Then, not only will we be able to turn off the light at night without getting up, but we’ll finally have a speaker in our bedroom!
The Sengled Solo can connect to any of your Bluetooth-capable devices and into a standard E26 lamp base. The Pulse app is available for both Apple and Android. There’s nothing special needed and it’s an installation that anyone can do. The sound quality from the Sengled speaker is clear and good, with two JBL® speakers inside. The volume is pretty decent, not as loud as my stand-alone Bluetooth speaker but it is significantly louder than my phone. I don’t really care about how the light from the bulb looks but for the record, it can be nice and bright if you turn it all the way up! It is an energy-efficient LED light. It uses roughly 9.5W and 12.5W when you’re using both light and audio. It’s quite a bit heavier than your average light bulb but with two speakers inside, that makes perfect sense!
Every room of my house needs one of these because we are completely out of space and outlets for those big bulky speakers. Not to mention, I’m not interested in having wires all over the place! As far as gifts go, I feel like this is perfect for just about anyone. A new mom can play lullabies in her baby’s nursery or your husband can rock out in his man cave and he doesn’t even have to get out of his chair to turn it on! Of course, we’re not giving our Sengled Solo to anyone because it’s awesome and I’m still learning how to share. “Sorry, not sorry” seems appropriate here. The price is comparable to products that function separately as a Bluetooth speaker or light switch, so I think that it’s extremely reasonable for a product that does both! I encourage you to peruse the Sengled website, this is not the only magificent thing they sell. If I could marry Sengled, I would.
