Pupcakes Recipe and Happy First Birthday to Dandy!

It’s hard to believe that our adorable little puppy, Dandy, is now a giant one year old! He used to be so tiny that I could hold him in one hand and now I think he could hold me in one paw, ha! He is taller than we are, loves to play, is super smart, and not a big fan of kisses, much to my dismay. Dandy also favors my husband over me, even though I made him and my other dogs some pupcakes in celebration!

Before we get started on the pupcakes recipe, I want to remind you to check the ingredients of your food first. You absolutely do not want to use any peanut butter with Xylitol, as it can be deadly, but luckily most do not include it. However, it’s also best to avoid sugars, hydrogenated vegetable oil, mono and diglycerides, palm oil, and corn syrup. These ingredients aren’t deadly but I’ve read that they can lead to health issues over time.

Know your dog’s sensitivities as well, if you can. Great Danes have sensitive stomachs so I’ve always tried to stick with more natural treats for Dandy (like our Bullymake subscription). I’m not a veterinarian, so I’m just passing along what information I’ve looked into and recommending that you do the same, just in case!

PeopleĀ can eat these (minus the dog treat topper!) but they’re not terribly sweet. The kids loved enjoying them alongside the pups so I felt that it was worth mentioning!

  1. this is a wonderful idea. my dog doesn’t like hard treats like dog biscuits so this would be great for Reagan. we have been making him a peanut butter sandwich on special occasions.
